It is good to express our appreciation about singing and our choir in many ways.
One of our members, John Denman, has written some poems about just this. We hope you enjoy them:
Loud we like to sing,
Our joy is felt within,
Unified in what we sing,
Determined in the pleasure we bring.
Absorbed in every word,
Nurtured to perfection,
Dedicated in song, harmony is heard.
Patiently learning lines,
Rehearsing them is fun,
Onward in harmony,
U ndulating they run,
Deep in emotion when some words are sung.
Lyrics are what we cherish,
In the songs we love to sing
And the sound of sweet music,
Played by piano, Band or String.
Proudly we sing in harmony,
To every humble note,
Which can bring a tear to the eye
And a lump to every throat.
We sing a good selection,
Of classic and popular songs,
The Choir master conducts us
And checks to right the wrongs.
We have such fun and laughter,
As it really is great fun,
A great way to spend an evening,
When all is said and done!
Choruses and Melodies,
Are pleasing to the ear,
It’s great to perform a Concert,
When we dress up in our Gear.
Come along and practice
And enjoy what we have sung,
Meet some friendly people,
Where there’s laughter and some fun.
It gives us pride to entertain,
When we have a larger crowd,
That’s why we call our Choir,
The Dorking Loud And Proud!
